Chronicles of Coronia

Chronicles of Coronia

Dr Lalita Sinha wrote me recently: "Currently I am collecting stories from a diverse demographic of children of Malaysia on their Covid-19 experience, in alliance with a panel of advisors and "storyhunters". When I have enough stories I aim to publish it online."

T
he  project “Chronicles of Coronia” is calling for stories in Malay and English from children in Malaysia on the Covid-19 pandemic. We wish to include children from marginalised, minority and vulnerable communities. To organise a pilot project, we are seeking volunteers for help with “story-hunting”, editing, translation, graphic design and social media.

Dr. Lalita Sinha is a scholar and translator. Formerly attached to Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang as Senior Lecturer in Comparative Literature, she has published books and articles on literature, mysticism and translation locally and abroad. Her purpose in in starting this project is to give children an opportunity to voice their view of the Covid-19 experience. She seeks collaboration in any of the processes of:

1. production (collection of stories, training parents to talk to/prompt the children in speaking of their experiences, curating, editing, illustrating etc)
2. fundraising
3. publication - hard copy and ebook, audiobook etc.
4. promotion/events

She's looking to university student volunteers/social action groups etc. to collect stories, which are contributions from children of age  5-8, and 9-12.  Apart from 'normal' children, the demographic includes B40/vulnerable communities, children living with learning difficulties, mental health issues, Orang Asli, and refugees.
